Bibi Ziegfeld & Makaya Omas
Hyatt Problem Child

At the risk of splattering some colour over this already overcast room temperature studio, it’s worth pausing to admire the talent of Bibi Ziegfeld’s production team. This time around she’s working with Makaya Omas, a man who seems to have some serious photographic talent, but for some reason that we’re never quite sure of.

On the EP’s opener “Neyrizaan” (a.k.a. “I’m A Deer”) Omas’s drum machine becomes a pulsating beeping recording itself into existence like a spool of frayed wire. “Fraser” has natural drums and a hypnotic bassline that’s almost hypnotic. “Raga” takes us deeper into utter trance territory. “Bhuvan” (a.k.a. “Bodk”) has an even more intense bassline and a much more pulsating beat flow. “Bhuvan” is like a badly programmed computer drum machine, or like a badly programmed computer music, but better.
