Jillian Davies makes her debut with a set of spiky, warbly, single tone pieces with titles like “The Dunes Have Eyes”, “The Shelf Is Empty”, and “Prayers To The Hermit”. Her sound is lurching, warbly and deeply immersive. Her sound system blurb says something about her background as a former prodigy and multigenerational performer, but I think what it really means is something along the lines of “exotic rave noise”. The first few minutes are a whirl of whirling cyborg rhythms, frenzied software effects, and watery distortion, but after that it settles into a softly bubbling bath of soothing, ethereal ambient vibes.
