Slugger
Game Of Death
Chennai based multi-instrumentalist Slugger crafts sludge-drenched, drug-fueled riffs and thrashing noise routines, using a laptop as a drum machine as he coaxes digitised sludge sludge sludge sludge sludge sludge sludge sludge sludge sludge into his DIY studio. Joined by a quartet including vocalist Radikal, guitarist Harappian Night, and drummer Anil Dash, the trio play indeterminately – day after day, week after week, year after year. But each track seems to have a distinctive mood, a tack, a signature move. Dash’s manic drums trundle through a receding horizon of dubstep and EBM, while fellow guitarist and composer Jayda Mckenna’s counterpointing Asian pop smears the track’s greyscale backdrop with sharp fizz.
