It's been a strong year for After Burn fans with three albums under his belt, and 2017's excellent "For Those Who Remain" came after 2016's "Odd Jobs Well-Kept Secrets". This time around he has the good sense to keep things simmering with introspective darkness, laced with drone and slowed down for a late night singalong. The standout is "After Burn" which features three brand new tracks, the first of which finds After Burn in a dilapidated basement, smoking a sub-strength cigar and thinking about his boring day. The second is a claustrophobic, unsettling crawl through a burning building with After Burn reflecting on the fact that he probably won't survive the next ten seconds. The third is a massive, primal stomp through a snowy landscape filled with survivors. Amazing.
