It's nice to see that one of the more interesting Korean albums on the current label (along with the equally serpentine Son Of Kholat and the wild and dour Diva) is a collaborative effort by two of the East Asian artists who are pushing their own way in different directions. Choi (aka Urs Choi) is a Seoul based performance artist who has worked with M-Plant, Fionna, Laura Jean Englert and Paula Sheppard. She's been known to pose nude for shoots and has even had her photos uploaded to Instagram.
Hwee (aka Son Of Kholat) is a K-pop diva whose debut solo album was Chungwon ([1] 2016). This time around, she swaps the K-pop theatrics for a jittery, swaying style reminiscent of Coldplay and Fleetwood Mac. "Dong Soo Hi (Another Cut)" is an entertaining enough jitter, despite the fact that it sounds like a sped-up K-pop version of the title track. The title track is a solo effort by the K-pop singer herself, so maybe there is hope for the rest of us. The other standout is "Soo Hi (Another Cut)", a wistful and melancholy reflection on the pressures of modern life.
