Slightly less known than his colleague Ian Archer, drummer John Chalmers’s work is usually associated with the early work of Gary Lucas and his founding of The Middleford Foundation, in the years just after the Beatles. Not so much a weapon, Chalmers’s work is more often associated with The Warrens, mainly as a member of The Robbers and his last few outings as a member of The Misfits. John Chalmers, the man behind the drum work, is the son of Tanya Chalmers, who worked with John and Pat Metheny.

The music on Drone Of The Month was recorded in his parents’ backyard, and is an unusual slab of sound, rich and dense, filled with a sense of time ticking by. The chimes are the clearest part, the slow, hollow sound of the album. It’s a great way of letting the listeners in on a little secrets of the album.
